About N5 Kanji
N5 is the starting level of the JLPT and includes approximately 100 basic kanji characters. These are considered the most fundamental kanji needed for basic communication in Japanese.
These kanji appear frequently in everyday situations, such as signs, menus, and basic documents. They include numbers, directions, time expressions, and other essential concepts.
Focus on learning both the readings (kun'yomi and on'yomi) and the meanings. Practice writing each character to reinforce memory, and try to recognize them in real-world contexts like manga or simple texts.
Use the grid view for quick visual recognition and the list view for detailed study. Flip cards to practice recalling readings and meanings. Regular review is key to mastering these foundational characters.
